Evaluation - How Does Your Project Challenge Real Media Texts?

In this blog i will be explaining how our music video challenges real media texts. Our product is challenging due to the clothes we are wearing in our video. We took 'chavy' to the next level and highlighted it heavily with our clothing, makeup and some of our actions in the video.

We also challenged other music videos by The role of a male being played by a female. In other music videos no one ever plays two roles. In our video we thought that would be challenging and controversial to have a female play one of the male roles.

We feel that our music is more comical, although the lyrics are strongly about a break up and heartbreak, we decided to create more of a parody of N-Dubz to make the video less serious and more light hearted. The narrative is controversial due to the fact that a violence is strongly shown through the punch scene.

We also took the whole 'lower class area rap artist' to the extreme by rapping in front of graffitied backgrounds and in front of blocks of council estate flats. People like Devlin and N-Dubz do the same but we made sure that every opportunity we had we made it look 'lower class'.

This is our take on 'lower class area rap artist' based on the artists from East London, where we are from, we took inspiration a lot from N-Dubz music video "Ouch" and Devlin's music Video "Runaway"

Devlin - Runaway

N-Dubz - Ouch
