In what way does you media project use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
Our media project uses, develop and challenges forms and conventions of real media products in many different aspects of our video. The ‘chavy’ clothing, heavy makeup and actions that we preformed during our music video highlighted this. The clothing which the girls (myself and Eden) wore during our music video was tight fitted and looked trashy where as the male characters (Harold & Eden) wore baggy clothing like tracksuit bottoms, baggy t-shirts, jumpers and trainers. The females in our video wore a lot of makeup, everything was exaggerated from our lipstick to our eyebrows.
We challenged other media roles by the role of a male being played by a female, in other music videos you never see this.
Our music video was similar to N-Dubz in certain ways because we had to portray the same roles, we wanted people to remember the old N-Dubz when they were still ‘street’. We had drugs, cheating and ‘hood rat’ features in our music video. We played stereotypical roles that people would assume teenagers or N-Dubz.
This information from music metric shows that women prefer to listen to N-Dubz rather than men.

What have you learnt from audience feedback?
From our audience feedback, we as a group have learnt that our approach to our N-Dubz video worked really well. People enjoyed the controversial roles we played, narrative and props we used. From our target audience interviews, we noted that people liked our video because it was comical to the viewer. During our time of filming we wanted our video to be funny even though it’s about an important issue which is relationships and cheating. We also learnt that our audience enjoyed our clothing and how we portrayed ourselves as N-Dubz, they also enjoyed the props we used. We used catnip as a substitute for cannabis in our video and it looked really realistic. Also some of the scenes we had in our music video were quite serious, but by using humorous sound and clips in other scenes, the tense feel was then taken away.

During this scene we added cricket noises to create suspense and give a comical feel to our music video.
How did you use media technologies in the construction, research, planning and evaluation stage?
We used media technologies in all of the stages of our project, without these technologies we wouldn’t have been able to complete our project. The technology we mostly used was the internet because we based our research not just on feedback from our peers but statistics on N-Dubz themselves and what people enjoy seeing in a music video. For our research we went on music metric to get the statistics on N-Dubz and further information on the band. We also wanted to know what our target audience would like in our video. We also used the N-Dubz official website to gain information and an idea of what to put onto our website.

We relied a lot on the Mac and internet access. We also used Photoshop to edit out CD cover.
How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?
The combination between our main product and ancillary text go well together. Our outfits and plot of our music video is consistent though out our media project. Our website, CD cover, Music Video and Radio spot are all similar to each other. We used graffiti and a lot of council estate like places to keep up with the theme of our project. Our CD cover is linked to our website though the use of a QPR code, when using this code or taking a picture of it, itll take you straight to a link to our website.
